CGT 411 Capstone - Program Development Planning (Phase 2)

The Parkitects

The construction industry does not have any tools to help model parking structures and surface lots.

In collaboration with Holder Construction Company, The Parkitects team is working towards a solution which will solve that problem. We want to save time and money for the company, while maintaining consistent quality.

Based on previous work from a Spring 2017 semester team, our group is using a plugin for Revit construction modeling software called Dynamo. Dynamo is an open-source visual programming software used for design. The previous team has successfully created a tool within Revit, using Dynamo, which offers the ability to automatically create a basic parking garage structure based on parameters such as length, width, number of spaces, and more.

Phase 2 of this endeavor, what we are working on, will be adding on this tool to include more functionalities such as egress, stairwells, elevators, and more, as well as to fix existing bugs.

This tool has the potential to be a valuable asset for Holder Construction Company, and the construction industry as a whole.
